Regis holds dominant positions on the Duketon and Albany-Fraser (Tropicana) Greenstone Belts in the North Eastern Goldfields of Western Australia, operating several open pit and underground mines.

Our Mining Operations

  • Duketon

    • The Duketon Gold Project is located 130 kilometres north of Laverton and includes surface and underground operations. The project commenced production in 2012 and during 2024 operated across two operating centres:

      • Duketon North Operations (Moolart Well)
      • Duketon South Operations (Rosemont and Garden Well)

Our operations consist of two main open pit mines and other satellite open pit mines, along with two underground mining areas. At Duketon, we work closely with the Mantjintjarra Ngalia people of this Western Desert region who are the Traditional Owners and custodians of the land.

Our three process plants have a combined nominal capacity of 10Mtpa and employs conventional crushing, grinding and carbon-in-leach recovery methods.

In-line with its strategic underground growth objective of operating 4 to 5 underground mines, targeting annual production of 200koz to 250koz of gold In the future, during 2024, Regis further increased its underground Ore Reserves and announced the establishment of two new underground production areas at Garden Well and Rosemont.

  • Tropicana

    • Tropicana is a Joint Venture (TJV) between AngloGold Ashanti Australia Ltd (70%) and Regis Resources (30%). Since Regis acquired 30% in May 2021, Tropicana has continued to demonstrate Its tier-one potential, delivering 380% growth in underground resources over this time.

In 2024, Tropicana operations consisted of two open pits (Tropicana and Havana South) and two underground mines (Boston Shaker and Tropicana). The processing plant has a nominal capacity of 9.5Mtpa (100%) and employs conventional crushing, grinding, and carbon-in-leach recovery methods.

The Wongatha and Spinifex peoples are the Traditional Owners and custodians of the land. Sustainability performance for the Tropicana Operation remains a key part of our sustainability reporting for Regis Resources

Our Growth Projects

  • McPhillamys

    • The McPhillamys Gold Project (100%), is one of Australia’s largest undeveloped open-pit gold resources. It is situated about 250 kilometers west of Sydney, in the established mining region of Central Western NSW, near Blayney.

During 2024, Regis continued to progress with the Definitive Feasibility Study for McPhillamys and as a significant component of these works, the potential environmental and social impacts associated with the Project have been assessed during environmental and operational studies completed as part of the Study. During all activities, including exploration, resource development drilling and the feasibility study, Regis has actively engaged with relevant stakeholders within the region.

Regis has continued to work closely with Registered Aboriginal Parties to assess Aboriginal Cultural Heritage on the site. Cultural Heritage assessments have been completed as part of the NSW Planning Approvals process and in response to a Section 10 application.

Late in 2024, Regis released outcome of Definitive Feasibility Study, confirming that the Project is a long-life open pit that will generate robust returns. Regis will continue with value engineering and optimisation works to potentially further enhancement the value of the Project. These works are expected to continue through until FID, which expected in FY26.

Regis continues to evaluate its capital allocation priorities including a range of options for the development of McPhillamys.

  • Exploration

    • Regis holds one of the largest land-packages within the Western Goldfields, with approximately 3,000 square kilometers of tenements over the Duketon greenstone belt. Regis exploration activities within the Duketon greenstone belt is focused along well established gold bearing trends and includes the prolific the Garden Well trend, which extends from north of Garden Well to south of Toohey’s Well and is a trend that Regis has defined 3Moz. The second trend is the Rosemont – Baneygo trend that extends between Rosemont and Baneygo, continuing south past Ben Hur.

Exploration activities have focused on the identification and expansion of underground resources, primarily beneath open pits. In parallel, Regis continues to explore surface targets, seeking additional high-value large open pit growth.

In 2023 Regis announced an underground Exploration Target at Garden Well and in 2024, Regis announced that drilling success has defined a new underground production area, Garden Well Main. Furthermore at Rosemont, Regis also announced that drilling success has defined Rosemont Stage 3, an extension to the current Rosemont South underground mining area. With continued exploration success and including these two new underground mining areas, Ore Reserves have continued to exceed mining depletion. Current exploration activities combined with extensive local geological knowledge provide Regis with confidence that underground Ore Reserves will continue to replace, if not exceed, mining depletion into the future.

Recent developments at Duketon include the Garden Well South underground mine, which achieved commercial production in FY2023, and the Ben Hur open pit mine project, slated to commence production in FY2024.

The Tropicana Joint Venture (TJV) controls about 90% of the Archean Plumridge Terrain at the western margin of the Albany Fraser belt. At Tropicana, Regis continues to progress its near-mine, underground exploration activities, to successfully upgrading Inferred Resources into Indicated Resources while also extending extends of known mineralisation at depth. Exploration activities have focused on the evaluation of depth extensions of mineralisation at Boston Shaker, Tropicana, and Havana while also identifying areas of previously unidentified fault off-set extensions of known mineralisation. Current underground resource extension drilling is focused on testing high-grade plunge extensions to Boston Shaker; the fault offset location of the Havana high-grade shoot; a conceptual, “blind”, northern repeat of the Havana high-grade shoot called the Cobbler underground target; and down-dip extension potential to Tropicana.

Tropicana continues to hold significant potential for further large-scale open pit discovery and regional exploration activities are working to enhance our current geological understanding while further defining trends that are considered favourable to host mineralisation.
